Jessica Mahaffey is the Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Direct Energy. She is responsible for all external communications, media relations, corporate responsibility and community investment across Direct Energy’s North American footprint.
Jessica has 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Before joining Direct Energy in January 2003, Jessica worked as a senior regulatory consultant for American Electric Power, responsible for regulatory relations at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) with a focus on industry restructuring issues and the implementation of Customer Choice. Previous to that position, Jessica was the corporate spokesperson for the former Central Power and Light Company’s 44-county South Texas service area, with primary responsibility for media relations, external communications, issues management, and corporate advocacy. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a second concentration in Marketing and Management from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Jessica is based in Houston, Texas. She is married and has two sons. Jessica serves as Board Member for the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc., and as the AtLarge Position 5 Commissioner for the Houston Clean Cities Commission. She is a member of the Gulf Coast Power Association, emPOWERING Women outreach program, a member of the Public Relations Society of America, a member of the Corporate Community Relations Council of Houston, and a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.
