Michelle Kirby is senior vice president and chief people officer for Texas Health Resources. She leads Human Resources initiatives for Texas Health, one of the nation’s largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems, with more than 20,500 employees of fully owned/operated facilities plus 2,100 employees of consolidated joint ventures. Michelle also has responsibility for the Texas Health Resources University including employee and leadership learning and development.

Kirby joined Texas Health in 1990 as manager, Compensation, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. In 1998, she became vice president, Compensation, Benefits and Human Resources Information Systems for Texas Health Resources. She was promoted in 2005 to vice president, Human Resources, for the organization and in 2008, became Texas Health’s senior vice president and chief human resources officer. She was promoted to her current role in the fall of 2014.

Kirby is a founder of Texas Health’s Be Healthy total health program. The system has won prestigious awards under her leadership, including Fortune magazine’s Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2015 and 2016, The Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles® Platinum award from the National Business Group on Health, the Dallas Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers award and the Dallas Morning News Top 100 Best Places to Work.

In 2012, Kirby won recognition as one of four chief human resources executives of the year by Human Resource Executive magazine. She has served on the faculty of World at Work (formerly the American Compensation Organization) since 2000 and is a member of the HR Advisory Committee for the graduate program in HR Management at the University of Texas at Arlington.

She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baylor University in Waco and her master’s degree in human resources management from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
