Dr. Melissa Gonzalez is the Vice Chancellor of workforce and economic development. Gonzalez leads workforce-credit and non-credit programs, community education, student job placement, resource development/grants, and Lone Star Corporate College. Dr. Melissa Gonzalez earned her BBA in finance, MBA and a Ph.D. in international business management from the University of Texas-Pan-American. Prior to joining Lone Star College, Dr. Gonzalez was a tenured professor of management at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Dr. Gonzalez joined LSC as dean of instruction of the LSC-North Harris Career and Applied Technology Division and has also served as interim vice president of LSC-Greenspoint and Victory Centers and special assistant to the president at LSC-North Harris. She is also an adjunct at the University of Houston-Downtown where she teaches undergraduate courses in Management.

Dr. Gonzalez holds leadership positions in various academic and professional associations and has received numerous honors and awards for her continuing commitment to educating and assisting the Hispanic community. In the community, Dr. Gonzalez is on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Women in Higher Education, Houston Hispanic Forum, Near Northwest Management District, Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber, Neighborhood Centers Leadership Committee, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, and FIRST Robotics of Houston. She is also a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Board for International Trade and Development. In this role, she works closely with organizations such as Global Houston, Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Houston Partnership.
