Winjie Tang Miao was named senior vice president and system integration officer for Texas Health Resources in January 2015. She develops innovative approaches to improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency and clinical performance.

Previously, Winjie spent 14 years with Texas Health working in hospital operations and leadership. Texas Health is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems in the United States and includes 24 acute care and short-stay hospitals that are owned, operated, joint-ventured or affiliated with Texas Health Resources.

She served as president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance for three years. Created by her vision, the 70-bed facility opened in September 2012 as a full-service hospital serving the growing communities of northern Tarrant County. Under Winjie’s leadership, the hospital developed a strong connection with its community, partnering with community organizations including businesses, school districts and municipalities to improve health in the region.

Winjie began her career in health care administration as at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas in 2000. During her tenure, she led the planning and implementation of the acute care expansion of the hospital, a $207 million project. In addition, she optimized eight ambulatory clinics and developed breast health and other oncology-related programs.

Prior to her role at Texas Health Alliance, Winjie served as the President of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle. Under her leadership, the hospital expanded services and received national recognition for its quality and community health efforts.

Winjie received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was honored as one of Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comers in 2008 and recognized in 2011 and 2012 by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of 25 Healthcare Leaders Under Age 40. She was also recognized by the Illinois Math and Science Academy with a Distinguished Alumni award in 2012.

In the community, Winjie serves on the board of the March of Dimes and is an adjunct professor and the UNTHSC School of Public Health. Winjie and her husband, Darryl, reside in Fort Worth, TX.
