Janet Sanchez is anArmy military spouse for 23 years. She is the mother of threechildren. Janet was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Janet is currently married to MSG Luisnel Garcia, Retired. After retirement they decided to make San Antonio their permanent home.

Janet lives her life one day at a time and is a very positive person. She loves to volunteer with different military organizations, the community, and ather kids’schools. During her family PCS moves around the country, she dedicated her life to help others and to advocate for military families with language barriers.10 years ago, she founded “Esposas Militares Hispanas USA”(EMHUSA). A volunteer non-profit organization that helps military families with language barriers.

Today, the organization reaches 8,000 members ad continues to grow. EMHUSA has given her the chance of knowing and learning more about the military community. She has had the pleasure to meet and help wonderful people and excellent military families that are stationed all over the world. Every day a new family joins our military community, sometimes not knowing the upcoming or what’s in the future, more so if there is a language barrier.

Janet is the Military Spouse of the Year for Joint Base San Antonio2012, she hasrepresented and advocate for military families in different government’s offices, testifiedfor military benefits in the Senate, servedas committee member in Fort Sam Houston School District, served asan advisor for the Military Advisory Family Network, served as a panelist for AUSA Learning and Leaning-In forum, Served as a panelist at the Women in the World Conference, was part of the planning committee for the OPM & Texas A&M Military and Veterans Employment Information Seminar, was part of KLRN Veterans Voices Advisory Panel, served as a panelist for Military Spouse Panelat Texas A&M, served as a panelist on the first Facebook Community Summit with Mark Zuckerberg representing military families, she was named 2017 United Way Volunteer of the Year and have represented military families in many more events.
