Kara Hill is a Principal of Hill Bros. Construction, a San Antonio-based general contractor. The original brothers founded the company after returning from service in World War II, with later generations serving in the Army Corps of Engineers. Hill Bros. honors this family legacy by actively recruiting former service members for all open positions.
As a small business owner, Kara understands both the challenges of finding qualified team members and the value former service members and their spouses bring to small and medium sized companies. She has been an advocate for diversity and small business concerns as a member of Hispanic Contractors Association since 2008.
Ms. Hill has been heavily involved in veteran employment issues for the past several years as a member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. She also played a key role in establishing the San Antonio Military and Veterans Community Council (MVCC) which connects transitioning military members and their families to local resources. She currently serves as the Employment Team co-chair for the MVCC, which links veterans to job opportunities and employers to qualified staff.
Prior to her role at Hill Bros., Kara coordinated military affairs, workforce and economic development programs for Bexar County and UTSA’s Small Business Development program. Ms. Hill holds an MBA from St. Mary’s University, where she graduated with honors, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Trinity University. She is also a graduate of Leadership San Antonio, Class 36. She lives in San Antonio with her husband, daughter and two Labrador retrievers.
