Sheryl Tatar Dacso, J.D., Dr.P.H. is a partner in the Health Law practice of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Dr. Dacso concentrates her practice of over 35 years, on health care compliance, regulations and transactions, including managed care organizations and contracting, physician practice mergers, acquisitions and business ventures.
Before practicing law in California and Texas, she earned her B.A. from the University of Texas, a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Public Health from UT Houston Health Science Center and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.
Dr. Dacso is a faculty member at the University of Houston where she teaches at the Law School in the Health Law Institute and in the College of Technology, and teaches in the Medical Humanities program at the University of Texas Medical School as a McGovern Fellow. She is a thought leader and frequent speaker on many health care topics such as health information technology including e-health transactions, HIPAA and privacy, and Telemedicine use and regulation. This year, she was listed in Texas and National Best Lawyers and identified as a “Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly. She has written several text books and articles on a broad range of health care topics ranging from managed care contracting to virtual practice arrangements among physician practices and is the regular contributing co-author of a chapter in the BNA publication of E-Health, Privacy and Security Law (Third Edition.) She is a member of the editorial board of “Digital Health Legal,” a Cecile Park Media publication
