Zaffer is President & CEO of Saranas, a Houston-based medical device startup that has developed a novel internal bleed monitoring system for endovascular procedures. He brings over 20 years of broad management experience at publicly traded and venture backed companies in the medical device sector.
Prior to Saranas, Zaffer directed clinical research, regulatory affairs and strategic marketing at OrthoAccel Technologies, a medical device startup that developed and marketed a Class II medical device to accelerate tooth movement. As a Group Marketing Manager at Boston Scientific, Zaffer directed portfolio strategy and product planning for spinal cord stimulation products in support of the neuromodulation business. Zaffer also held numerous management level positions in clinical research and product development at St. Jude Medical to support regulatory clearance and commercialization of Class III cardiovascular products in the cardiac rhythm management business unit.
As an expert in the medical device sector, Zaffer has published over 60 articles in international scientific journals and has been an invited to speak at multiple international conferences and seminars. Since 2017, he has served as an advisor to the Texas Medical Center Innovation (TMCx) Institute.
Zaffer received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, an MS Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a BE Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
