Larry D. Perkins, PhD is currently the Executive Director, HR Talent and Diversity Organizations, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has more than 35 years experience in human resources, education, training and leadership development. Larry retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army in 2001. He held numerous leadership positions in the Army including 5 years as the Director and Senior Instructor, Center for Enhanced Performance, U.S. Military Academy, and West Point, NY. He served as the Battalion Commander, 14th Transportation Battalion in support of Operation Joint Guardian, Operation Joint Forge and Operation Joint Endeavor in Italy, Bosnia, Croatia and Hungary. Upon retirement from the military in 2001, he joined the prestigious law firm Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP in New York City where he held the position of Diversity Manager.
In 2005, he moved to Houston, Texas as the Director, Organizational Development for Dynegy. From 2007-2012 he held the position of Administrative Director, Organization Development and Clinical Education with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. February 1, 2016 he was appointed the duties as Executive Director for Diversity. His recent projects have been in HR information systems, leadership development, mentoring, executive coaching, talent acquisition strategies, and employee engagement strategies.
Larry received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Kansas State University in 1978, Master of Education degree in Counseling from Boston University in 1986, and earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Education with specialization in Training and Human Performance from Capella University in 2010.
