Paula X. Rojas is an equity trainer with 25 years of experience nationally and internationally. She is a practicing licensed midwife and community organizer and trains organizations to develop equity competencies that advance diversity, inclusion and a deeper understanding of the root causes for underrepresentation within organizations. She has worked on issues of gender violence, racial justice, women’s reproductive health, childcare access, healthcare access and police brutality. Rojas was a national trainer for INCITE! (Women of Color Against Violence) where she worked training local chapters and affiliates around the country. She co-founded a number of community-based organizations including Mamas of Color Rising, Refugio-Center for Community Organizing and the New York Organizing Support Center and developed training programs in New York, Chile and Mexico.
Born in Chile, Rojas grew up in Houston and later worked in Chile and New York City. Currently, Rojas is a trainer with the national organization Embody Transformation and works with the local organization Mama Sana/Vibrant Woman. In April 2016 she joined the Dell Medical School Department of Population Health as a consultant to help develop and implement a strategy to meaningfully engage communities that are underrepresented within institutions and most directly impacted by health inequities. Since moving to Austin in 2008 she continues to work as a consultant/trainer for organizations both locally and nationally. Paula is the mother of two amazing kids, Xue-li and Camino, and loves to dance!
