Michelle F. Simmons is currently a Senior Specialist for the office of Diversity & Inclusion in Human Resources at American Airlines where she and the team focus on the everyday business imperatives of diversity and inclusion.
Michelle joined American Airlines after graduating from the University of Texas in Arlington in 1984 with a B.A. in English.
Simmons’ early career began in Customer Relations where she held numerous roles as a supervisor, trainer and senior customer advocate, eventually overseeing all written communications to customer inquiries and representing the Executive Office in resolving customer travel issues.
Her career in Human Resources began in January 2009 as a communications specialist, writing employee communications for internal Human Resource stakeholders such as Diversity Strategies, Leadership Planning & Performance and 401(k) Benefits.
Simmons is an aspiring children’s book author and lives in Bedford, TX with her husband Michael, Snickers, Buddy, Zoe and Lexie (dogs). Her adult twin boys, Noble and Cabot, work as a Chef, and an English teacher in Thailand, respectively.
