Ryan Alcantar is an accomplished healthcare executive with 15 years of progressive experience transforming care delivery across the healthcare continuum, including post-acute facilities, multi-specialty physician groups, ACO and managed care, large health systems, public health institutions, virtual care providers, employer benefits, and onsite employee health centers. As Vice President of Employee Health & Wellness at Parkland Health, he is responsible for implementing proven population health strategies to expand access to care, improve total health and wellbeing, and reduce healthcare cost for more than 20,000+ Parkland Health employees and their spouses/dependents. In addition to integrating employee healthcare services, Mr. Alcantar collaborates with talent management leaders to administer whole-person employee benefits that advance equity and lead to a happier, healthier, and more engaged workforce. Ryan Alcantar is a Dallas-Fort Worth native and grandson of immigrants. He is a first-generation college graduate achieving a kinesiology degree from UT Arlington and later an MBA from Texas Woman’s University. Ryan has a passion for improving the future of healthcare and regularly mentors healthcare management students in hopes of one day leaving the industry better than he found it.

Kim serves as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Employee Experience, overseeing employee relations, DEI initiatives, enterprise well-being, and employee engagement strategy. In her role, she shapes and strengthens Children's Health system's culture throughout the employee life cycle, working towards a robust employee value proposition. With a wealth of experience, Kim previously held the position of SVP for HR, Talent, and Workforce Planning in the Dallas Market. With over 28 years in HR leadership roles, Kim has played pivotal roles in fostering employee engagement at companies like BNSF Railway, BELO Broadcasting, Burger King Corporation, Dell, and Target Corporation. Recognized as a thought leader in Diversity & Inclusion, she has received various community service and business awards, including the “HR Professional of the Year” designation by Ogletree Deakins Law Firm and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, DiversityFIRSTTM Award, Top women in Healthcare recognition from the National Diversity Council, Texas Most Powerful Business Women by Texas Diversity Magazine and the SWJC Audrey Kaplan Inspiring Women Southwest award. Henriette Mathis, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine. Originally from Dallas, Dr. Mathis holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Southern Methodist University. She earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed internal medicine residency training at UW Boise. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Mathis joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014 as a Faculty Associate. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016. She is currently the Medical Director of the Medicine Secure Unit at Parkland Health and Hospital System and Course Director of Medicine 1915 at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Mathis is also a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, American College of Physicians, and National Medical Association. She currently serves as Community Service Chair for C.V. Roman Medical Society (Dallas-Fort Worth branch of the National Medical Association).

Laurýn Tamar Minter, Ph.D. (she/her/ella) is a political scientist with an expertise in Minority Politics and Voting Behavior, Legislative Behavior, and Public Policy. She currently works as the Administrative Director of Workforce Equity for Parkland Health. In her role, Dr. Minter is leading the organization’s anti-ableism strategy, which will help ensure that any barriers to recruitment, employment, and continuous employment are eliminated for individuals with apparent and non-apparent disabilities as well as chronic illnesses. Dr. Minter’s anti-ableism work utilizes a particular lens that views differences, including disabilities, as normal and natural variations in human beings rather than deficits, disorders, or things that need to be fixed. Her mantra is, “Hire for Strengths. Accommodate for differences. Value for contributions.” Dr. Minter earned a Ph.D. from the University of New Orleans in 2014. Her doctoral dissertation explores Black Nationalism as an ideological framework for Conservative Democratic Black Voters. Dr. Minter also possesses a Master’s degree from Tulane University (2009) in Latin American Studies with a focus on the psychology of identity politics in Puerto Rican Americans. Dr. Minter earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Political Science and Spanish from Fisk University (2007). Her honors thesis explored the racial dynamics of the Latino Voting Bloc. At Fisk, Dr. Minter was inducted into the Delta chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (America’s most prestigious honor society), signing her name in the same book as world renowned sociologist Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois. Her teaching and research specializations are in African American and AfroLatino Politics, with an additional expertise in Latin American and Caribbean Identity Politics. Dr. Minter is a neurodiverse queer cisgender woman of Appalachian and Chinese Caribbean ancestry. As a result of her intersectional identity and experiences, Dr. Minter works tirelessly to ensure the inclusion and support of other marginalized individuals in spaces where they are often excluded. Dr. Minter is a salonnière and owner of Salons by Lauryn, Inc., an independent political research consulting firm providing individual, corporate, governmental, and nonprofit clients with socially and culturally sensitive salons to assist in the development of substantive policy and analysis. Dr. Minter is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as well as St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She is also the proud mother of the most beautiful pocket pittie this side of the Mississippi, Tchoupitoulas.
