Mattie J. Parker currently serves as the chief of staff for Mayor Betsy Price and the Fort Worth City Council, overseeing all policy, strategy and communications. Mayor Price is currently serving her fourth term as Mayor of Fort Worth, the 15th largest city in the US and one of the fastest growing cities in the country. As chief of staff, Parker has leads critical efforts on behalf of Mayor Price including the establishment of Read Fort Worth, the creation of a city-wide plan on quality early childhood education, successful continuation of FitWorth, Steer FW and the Blue Zones Project.

Prior to joining the Mayor and council’s staff, Parker served for over a decade in national and state public affairs. She served as the district director and campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Kay Granger in Fort Worth. In addition, she was chief of staff to State Rep. Phil King and executive assistant to former Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick in Austin. She also practiced law with Harris, Finley & Bogle P.C. in Fort Worth.

Mattie has a passion for politics and has enjoyed working for some of the well-respected leaders in our state. For Parker, she believes that politics is not about party affiliation but should be grounded in public service and making our communities the best places to live and raise our families. Parker serves on the board of directors for Recovery Resource Council, ACH Child and Family Services, Lonestar Film Festival and Leadership ISD of Tarrant County. After adopting their daughter at age 10, Mattie and her husband have focused their philanthropic efforts on children in the foster care system, promoting adoption and providing all children a forever home. In addition to their daughter, now 17 years old, she and her husband David, have two boys, ages 8 years and 2 years old.

Parker graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in government and with a law degree from Texas Wesleyan School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law) where she was awarded the prestigious MacLean & Boulware Endowed Law Scholarship.
