Kim K. Ogg was elected District Attorney of Harris County, effective January 1, 2017. A nationally recognized victims’ rights advocate, as District Attorney she is committed to more effective criminal justice in treatment of every individual with dignity and fairness. Upon taking office, DA Ogg immediately placed public safety—paramount among her guiding principles—at the forefront of her administration.

DA Ogg emphasizes collaborative efforts between the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement to narrow the focus of police and prosecutors alike on the violent offenders who pose the largest danger to the public.

Licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 1987, and recognized as a specialist in Criminal Law by the Board of Legal Specialization since 1992, DA Ogg has a track record of public service and thirty years professional experience to rely on as she works to reform the Harris County criminal justice system.

A native Houstonian, DA Ogg received her law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston in 1986, and her undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
