Robert Salcido, Jr. is a regional field organizer for Equality Texas, the only statewide LGBT rights advocacy group in Texas. He oversees field operations to include educational initiatives aimed at creating a greater understanding of nondiscrimination ordinances.

Robert is committed to civic engagement and is active in various capacities in the LGBT community. He’s been involved with Pride Center San Antonio since 2011 and was elected as the Board Chair in May 2015. He is a founding member and current president of Orgullo de San Antonio LGBT League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 22198, where he works to build a bridge between the LGBT & Latino communities. He also served on the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce board of directors from 2011-2015.

Robert recognizes the importance of coalition partnerships and serves on the leadership team of Community Alliance for a United San Antonio (CAUSA) and was appointed to serve on the Mayor’s LGBT advisory team by Mayor Ivy Taylor in 2014. Robert’s was awarded the LGBT Chamber’s Rodric E. Fitzgerald’s Volunteerism award in 2012, named one of San Antonio’s 2015 Most Influential by Out In SA Magazine and awarded an Outstanding Leadership award from LULAC in October 2015.

A native of New Mexico and raised in Amarillo, Texas; San Antonio has been his home since 2001. He attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas where he studied marketing. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector full-time he had a 15-year career in insurance marketing and sales.
